What to Look for: Symptoms of Yeast Infection
If you have never had one, you may not know what the symptoms of yeast infection are. It is crucial to know what signs to look for to determine whether or not you in fact have a yeast infection. Here are some symptoms to look for in the various types of yeast infections out there.
Vaginal Yeast infections will leave the sufferer with severe itching, burning, and odor in the vaginal area. You may also have discharge that can range from watery to thick with a whitish-gray hue to it. Pain during intercourse and/or foul odor after intercourse may be symptoms of a vaginal yeast infection also.
Another type of yeast infection is called thrush. Thrush occurs around the mouth and on the tongue. There will be white patches on the tongue visible to the naked eye. Cutaneous candidiasis, or skin yeast infection, can occur when yeast cells on the skin grow more actively. When found in the folds of the skin, the symptoms can range from odor, to patches that ooze a clear fluid, to itching and redness. Pimples can also be a symptom of a skin variety of yeast infection.
Yeast infection of the nail bed is also considered a skin yeast infection. When the nail bed is overtaken by fungus, usually due to lack of air circulation under a fake fingernail, the real nail will turn white or yellow and begin to separate from the nail bed itself. Puss, swelling, and pain will usually accompany this infection.
